This wine is produced in huge clay vessels which the ancient Romans called «Amphorae», and nowadays are known as «Talhas» in Portugal, each with a capacity of 1100 kg of grapes. The methods and processes are the same as those used by the Romans many centuries ago, thus representing a living tradition in Vila de Frades/Vidigueira region. This is why today Vila de Frades is considered the «Capital of Vinho de Talha».
